US Soccer stud Landon Donovan, who did everything he could to keep the US Soccer Team alive in the 2010 World Cup, made his way back to the US to make an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Letterman and Donovan made their way to the streets of NYC during the show to kick around the ol’ soccer ball, much to the delight of fans … Landon also shared with Dave his views on how things should be officiated at the World Cup in the future:

Landon Donovan told David Letterman soccer needs either more referees or video replay. The U.S. soccer star appeared on the “Late Show” on CBS on Tuesday night after returning from the World Cup, where the Americans won their group for the first time in 80 years. Team USA was the victim of officiating blunders that have plagued the tournament, as two Americans’ goals were disallowed. Donovan told Letterman “for us it’s difficult because we know how fast the game is, and as a referee, you can’t see everything.” Donovan said it’s frustrating “to put that much into something you’re doing and all of a sudden, it’s taken away from you.”

I 1000% agree that the way World Cup tournaments get refereed needs to be changed. There were so many bad calls in this World Cup alone that FIFA had to issue an apology for them. Despite all the crap calls that were made against the US team, our boys did a fantastic job. I’m so glad that Landon Donovan is getting the attention he deserves … tho, I fear it will be fleeting, at least here in the US. Enjoy it while you can, Lando!

Josh Hutcherson may still be a relative unknown in Hollywood, but he began making headlines recently when his name surfaced as one of a handful of actors still in the running to play the title role in Columbia Pictures' "Spider-Man" reboot. MTV News caught up with "The Kids Are All Right" co-star, and asked for some scoop on the Spidey audition process.

"You can't prepare for that and it's so big," Hutcherson said. "To be on a list with some of the people I'm being considered with is an honor. These actors are so good. It's such a big movie. I grew up watching the original — the ones with Tobey Maguire came out when I was 10 years old — so it would be an honor. It's just really cool to be considered for that."

Hutcherson couldn't give up any more details, but he did reveal that he'd been put on the studio's official audition tape, along with a host of other hopefuls.

"They put so many people on tape, like, everybody I know is auditioning for it and going out for it," he said. "They're just trying to figure out exactly what they want."

Other actors rumored to be vying for the Peter Parker role include Jamie Bell, Andrew Garfield and Frank Dillane.

Beyond "Kids," Hutcherson's feature-film credits include 2009's "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant," director Jon Favreau's "Zathura" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth," with Brendan Fraser. He'll soon be seen in this fall's "Red Dawn" remake with co-star Chris Hemsworth.

Who do you think should take on the Spidey role? Share your casting ideas in the comments!

Michael Jackson Fans Pay Tribute Outside Forest Lawn Cemetery

'He was like my brother, a family member,' one fan says.

Michael Jackson was laid to rest at Forest Lawn cemetery September 3. Nine months later, on the one-year anniversary of his death, fans gathered outside the Los Angeles cemetery Friday (June 25) to pay tribute to the fallen pop star and to share recollections of their favorite MJ moments from a career that spanned five decades.

"My first memory, I was about 7 years old. This was the time when Bad came out, and I watched the video performance of it, and from that point, I was almost obsessed with him," Eboni Butler told MTV News. "I even have him tattooed on my leg."

Tallora DiGirolami flew in from Adelaide, Australia, for the occasion and proudly displayed her national flag as she stood outside Forest Lawn. "I started this flag because I had so many friends and fans that couldn't make it," she said. "And we started getting to talking and I said, 'Right, I've got a flag. Do you want to sign it? Do you want to be part of the memorial?' "

The crowd was smaller than the ones that gathered in the days and weeks following Jackson's death, but the sentiments of his fans were no less impassioned. "He means a lot to me," Brian Lopez said. "He was like my brother, a family member. When I heard he died, I didn't eat for weeks, I didn't sleep for weeks, I didn't go out for weeks. ... It's been a very sad loss for me."

Confronted with such a loss, his fans continued to recall memories of the King of Pop. "I saw Michael once in Memphis when he was married to Lisa Marie and they had the Elvis tribute," Sheila Guerrero recalled. "I was crying so bad. He just stopped and came back and told me not to cry. That moment is priceless for me. I thank God for that moment."

Said Jonah Sevilla: "He loved the world, and he wanted it to be a better place because of all the bad things that were happening."

MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don't miss the one-hour special "Michael Jackson's Influence on Music," airing tonight at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.

Curren$y Becomes 'Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010' Contender With Help From Dame Dash

Curren$y Becomes 'Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010' Contender With Help From Dame Dash

MC is poised to make his major-label debut on the re-launched Roc-A-Fella.

"Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" Candidate: Curren$y

The Hot Spitta's been pursuing happiness longer than most on the "Hottest Breakthrough" list. A few years ago, Lil Wayne introduced Curren$y to the world with their rumbling collaboration "Where Tha Cash At," also featuring Remy Ma. But the New Orleans native hasn't truly had a moment until recently. His deal with Young Money was severed due to creative differences, and he released two indie projects in the meantime.

Now, though, Curren$y is aligned with Damon Dash's DD172 studio and the hip-hop mogul's partnership with Creative Control, a cutting-edge visual content company. The result is his forthcoming Pilot Talk. It's not only his major-label debut but also the first effort from the re-launched Roc-A-Fella Records under Dash and Def Jam.

"I call it opposite world," Curren$y told MTV News about his deferred dreams. "That's what I've named it. I've been doing this for a minute, and I've grown accustomed to things just not really panning out. But I still have a good time, so it don't really matter. But this time, I keep waiting.

"To know that [Dash] wasn't trying to be involved in music — he reached out to do the Black Roc project to do a verse and both got so cool and knew that was it," he continued. "I been to a million meetings, and that really wasn't a meeting. We just kicked it. Might as well get money at the same time."

Since joining forces with Dash, Curren$y has helped recruit Mos Def and Jay Electronica into the fold, as the three plan have been collaborate on a project together. And as the de facto leader of the DD172 movement, the warbly-voiced MC has helped Wiz Khalifa and Big K.R.I.T. raise their profile by trading woozy verses with them on their mixtape projects. They all share a similar vibe, featuring laid-back production and music that's perfect to listen to in candy-painted rides. According to Curren$y, their sound is the foundation for their current rise.

"The music is progressive, and people are receptive to it, because [most other] music sounds the same," he said. "Everything sounds the same. Really, they're doing us a favor by staying like that. People want to be relevant so bad that once they see somebody win, they do exactly what that person did and they stop doing what they do. Except for us. So continue to do that. We think it's awesome."

Curren$y and 19 other up-and-coming MCs are in the running to become MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" — and the winner will be decided by you!

Cast your vote for the "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" right here. The top five will be revealed beginning July 19, and the winner will be announced on the "Sucker Free Summit" July 25!

In a quiet apartment complex in Hongkou, a high-rise building, much like any other, stretches skyward. Inside is one of Shanghai's 60 or so gay 'massage' parlors, a temporary home for some of Shanghai's male sex workers.

This is one small part of China's forgotten industry, a trade that many prefer did not exist, and so pretend it doesn't. I am here with a team from Shanghai Leyi, an NGO that provides support to these sex workers plying their trade illegally and therefore with no recourse to official care, as it visits two such parlors.

Britney Spears' Purported Demo Of Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' Leaks

Britney Spears' Purported Demo Of Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' Leaks

Gaga allegedly wrote song for Spears, but track's authenticity is in doubt.
By Gil Kaufman

According to rumors, before recording "Telephone" herself and making its WTF-tastic video with Beyonc, a pre-fame Lady Gaga wrote the song for Britney Spears. Though Britney never recorded a finished version of the song — as far as we know — a purported demo leaked over the weekend in which Spears takes a swing at the tune.

At press time MTV News had not received responses from either camp about the authenticity of the leaked demo, which first popped up on the site ileaks.com. The track is remarkably similar to the finished version, with Britney singing in the same stuttered, AutoTuned voice as Gaga on the finished product. At points during the chorus, Britney's multi-tracked vocals take on a high, Madonna-esque tone.

The track has spare instrumentation, with gently plucked strings in the intro that are overtaken by the same driving beat and swirling synths as the finished recording in Gaga's The Fame Monster. The busy dial tones and the "not in service" message at the end are also in place, but in general, the demo lacks the punch of Gaga's version.

Though Spears has not weighed in on the controversy, one of the singer's fan sites, World of Britney, has thrown water on the alleged demo rumors. "There was almost no AutoTune in the actual song," World of Britney tweeted on Sunday, with several adamant follow-ups. "It was raw vocals and that isn't the song. Those of you who have ears can hear it's not B."

Do you think it's Britney on the demo? How does it compare to the finished Gaga product? Share your theories and reviews in the comments below.

Courtney Love and her new incarnation of her band Hole performed a show at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC this week that reportedly went on for over 3 hours … and according to the review by the Washington Post, pretty much everyone in attendance felt the show was 3+ hours too long. Here are a few photos of this “disastrous” Hole concert and some deets about this debacle of a performance:

“You get the Bruce Springsteen set, sorry.” Courtney Love muttered those words at some point during Hole’s show Sunday night at the 9:30 club. It’s hard to remember exactly when. Time seemed to stand still for so much of the evening. If she meant that we were in for a nearly three-hour concert, then yes, her statement was true. If she meant that we would experience a well-oiled rock-and-roll machine and everybody would leave feeling satisfied they got their money’s worth … let’s come back to that one. It’s safe to say the people yelling “Bull[expletive]! This is bull[expletive]!” didn’t feel like their $45 was well spent. There were more than a handful of patrons shouting and cursing at the endlessly controversial, occasionally coherent 45-year-old rock trainwreck. Many more simply headed for the exits. Three-quarters-filled at the start, the club was no more than a quarter packed by the excruciating end. Make no mistake – this was an astonishingly awful performance that had few moments of redeeming musical value. Song titles, lyrics, guitar chords – Love remembered only some of them, and infrequently. Then again, what was really the best-case musical scenario? A competent recreation of songs more than a decade old, played by Love and her latest hired hands? Is that what people wanted to see – Courtney karaoke versions of ’90s MTV buzz clips? Maybe. But probably not. Perhaps a bit more professionalism would have been nice but in 2010 you pay your $45 hoping for the Courtney Love Experience. And Sunday night was an experience like no other. She took the stage nearly an hour past the advertised 9:30 start time, smoking a cigarette, rambling for a minute about how she was late because she had just been hanging out with a senator friend. (Leave your best guesses in the comments.) She also introduced an assistant, Lisa, who was on stage for the entire show filming Love on an iPhone. Not on the side of the stage. Not filming a few songs. The entire show, on stage, often directly in front of Love. Love, naturally, played to the camera more than her fans. She preened, she constantly sang in its direction, she looked like she was trying to seduce it. Love and Lisa huddled before, during and after songs, conferring about what angles to shoot, like they were Bogdanovich and Kovacs. When one fan near the front complained that Lisa was being obstructive Love quickly snapped, “[Expletive] you, she’s with me.” She introduced “Someone Else’s Bed” as a “deeply emotional song” and spent the first 30 seconds of it instructing Lisa where to situate herself to get the best angle of Love giving it her faux-heartfelt best. The between song chatter was more than just chatter. Ten minutes without playing a song? Sure, let’s do that a few times. She talked about her courting style (“I never chase”), being anorexic and bulimic, quizzed fans on the meaning of her late husband Kurt Cobain’s lyrics, twice mentioned how The Washington Post hated her new album “Nobody’s Daughter,” and name-dropped a “TMZ” episode’s worth of celebrities, from Trent Reznor to Diablo Cody to George Clooney, even Douglas Fairbanks. She asked what the lamest Hole song was and cursed at people when they gave the wrong answer. When Love got around to singing, her voice sounded as if something died in her throat earlier in the day. Love has a blood-curdling howl, by far her most effective asset as a performer. She just should have used it more on Sunday. During the choruses of “Miss World” and “Violet” – two of her best and most popular songs – she turned the microphone to the crowd and didn’t even bother singing. Other times she skipped lines in order to cough, or take a sip of water or just … not sing. Of the nearly 30 songs (or song fragments), not even a handful were completed without some minor disaster … “This is a really weird show,” Love said in perhaps the understatement of the night a bit earlier. “I can’t tell if it’s really terrible.” Courtney, let me tell you something. In just the past year and a half, I’ve been to about 400 shows. I’ve seen some really terrible ones. And this was really the most terrible. No question. But the vast majority of those 400 shows, I went there, I saw it, and almost immediately forgot I was there. I’ll never forget this night with Courtney Love, no matter how much I may want to. And isn’t that really what she’s always wanted?

I was able to see Hole perform live at the start of this tour back in April and at the time, I was pissed that the show as too short (it clocked in at about 45 mins.) It sounds like I got lucky. If you are interested, you can read the full Washington Post review HERE … it goes into great detail about how painful this concert was to endure. I’m telling you, I would’ve been among the folks who left early. I had hoped that C. Love might be ready to make a serious go of her music career again but, alas, it seems that she is gone to us forever. I’m sure she’ll piddle her way thru more live performances but it won’t last … hopefully. The woman is just a wreck … I think she needs a long vacation … better yet, she needs permanent retirement. Unfortch from her p.o.v. she prolly thinks she’s being “rock and roll” when in fact she’s only finding new ways to embarrass herself for public entertainment. Sad.

Puppies!

Puppies!

So I go to see a shrink every month or so and her office is way up on the Upper East Side (i.e., far from Brooklyn.) Whenever it's appointment day, I dread going because it's a haul to get up there, but then I stop and think.... puppies.

Puppies!

You see, my doctor's office is located right by a pet store, and sometimes the thought of visiting the puppies is the only reason I go.

Puppies!

Part of me thinks she picked this office locale on purpose because what better way to get crazy people to come get their meds than with the promise of puppies, right?

Puppies!

I wonder if the pet store is aware of it? Like, whenever they see someone enter clutching a prescription, they think, "Red alert, red alert! We've got another one! Lock the cages!"

I mean, look at this face:

It just breaks my heart. I want to take all of them home every time I visit.

Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' Rules iTunes Singles Chart

Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' Rules iTunes Singles Chart

The latest 'Glee' soundtrack has a lock on the site's albums chart.
By Gil Kaufman

Though she lost out to Lady Gaga in MTV News' summer jam 2010 poll, Katy Perry is still off to a pretty good start of the season. With the help of Snoop Dogg, the singer has notched a #1 on the iTunes singles chart for the week ending Monday with her song-of-the-summer contender, "California Gurls."

The top of the list, frankly, looks like a who's who of our summer-jam nominees, with B.o.B's "Airplanes" coming in at #2, followed by Usher's "OMG," Ke$ha's "Your Love Is My Drug," Eminem's "Not Afraid" and the actual hottest summer jam, Lady Gaga's "Alejandro," as voted on by MTV.com readers.

The rest of the iTunes single chart is rounded out by La Roux's "Bulletproof," the "Glee" cast cover of Gaga's "Poker Face," Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" and Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart."

Though iTunes does not release sales figures, the picture at the top of the site's albums chart should be familiar to anyone who saw last week's Billboard 200 chart, since it's topped by the third volume of jazz-hands-worthy covers from the "Glee" crew, Glee: The Music, Vol. 3 Showstoppers.

Just behind are reunited glam-rock survivors Stone Temple Pilots, whose self-titled comeback album will likely top next week's Billboard tally. Gaga hangs tough at #3 with The Fame; followed by the Black Keys' Brothers; the "Sex and the City 2" soundtrack; B.o.B's debut, B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray and yet another "Glee" compilation, Glee: The Music, Journey to Regionals.

The list is rounded out by Distant Relatives, the full-album collaboration between rapper Nas and reggae scion Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, LCD Soundsystem's This Is Happening and Lady Antebellum's Need You Now.

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' Trailer: Six Key Moments

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' Trailer: Six Key Moments

We break down the best parts of the new sneak peek.
By Terri Schwartz

Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"
Photo: Warner Bros.

The first full-length "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" trailer comes at the perfect time to remind everyone why they loved the story about the boy with a lightning-bolt scar to begin with — and to ask everyone else who didn't what they were possibly thinking.

While previous trailers for "Harry Potter" movies — even the especially dark "Half-Blood Prince" — mixed humor with the action and magic, this sneak peek shows that the "Deathly Hallows" films, like the book, will take themselves very seriously.

There's a lot packed into the two-minute teaser, as well as some hints as to when the split between the two films will lie, so we're going to break down some of the best parts.

The Attack at the Ministry
There are only two quick shots of the Ministry battle, but they promise greatness from that scene. At 1:24, there is a shot of Ron (Rupert Grint) running away terrified, and then at 1:46, there is another shot of the Ministry employee who is pursuing him.

Godric's Hollow
Another section of "Part 1" that made it to the trailer is Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione's (Emma Watson) journey to the home of Harry's parents, Godric's Hollow. Their entrance can be seen at the one-minute mark, and even though it looks like only Hermione is walking, that is because Harry is under the invisibility cloak. There is a lot more to the location than meets the eye, though, and you can see Harry being attacked by Voldemort's snake Nagini inside Bathilda Bagshot's home at 1:47.

Ron Destroying the Slytherin Necklace Horcrux
In the scene that has long been assumed will close out "Part 1," Ron reunites with Harry in the woods and helps him destroy one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. At 1:17, Ron can be seen looking terrified of the images the Horcrux is showing them (some pretty scandalous scenes between Harry and Hermione), and then at 1:48, Harry can be seen encouraging Ron to "kill it!"

The Gringott's Break-In
Switching to moments that will (presumably) occur in "Part 2," it might seem a bit confusing to see Harry riding alongside his enemy Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) with a goblin named Griphook (Warwick Davis) at :54, but that's actually because Hermione is impersonating Bellatrix, a scene Carter said she enjoyed playing. The shot of a half-blind dragon at 1:16 also comes from the Gringott's scene, and the dragon flying away from the wizarding bank at 1:39 is the trio's escape route to safety.

Harry's First Confrontation With Voldemort
It was an interesting move to open up the trailer with one of the final scenes in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," but the shots of Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) standing with his Death Eaters in the woods and Harry approaching them actually come toward the end of the story. "Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, come to die!" Voldemort announces dramatically in the trailer, before seemingly casting the killing curse — Avada Kedavra — on Harry.

The Final Battle
A good portion of the action scenes that are shown in the trailer are taken from the final battle sequence that will take place at the end of "Part 2." USA Today reported that the battle was expanded for the film, which means those shots of people running at each other in the woods are probably from the creative mind of director David Yates. But the wand confrontation between Harry and Voldemort at 1:59 is right out of the book, and Voldemort's final line of the trailer — "Only I can live forever" — is a daunting way of teasing the final installments of the "Harry Potter" franchise.

What did we miss? Share your favorite parts of the trailer in the comments below!

There's something extremely unsettling about hearing stories of spies and espionage set outside of the realm of fiction. In case you haven't heard, eleven men and women have been arrested in the United States as suspected members of a deep cover Russian spy ring with an untold long-term mission in the country. We're not just talking government officials or members of the press — some of these spies were average Joes living right next door to you.

Like I said, pretty unsettling, isn't it? The developing story is reminiscent of a high octane espionage thriller, where the main character slowly realizes that these men and women he's known his entire life are secretly enemies of the state. In fact, this story has played out several times on the big screen. After the jump, check out some of the most stunning spy betrayals in cinema history.

Alec Trevelyan
Dubbed 006 by the MI6, Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean) worked alongside friend and colleague James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) for several years before seemingly perishing during a botched mission in "GoldenEye." Except the mission was botched by Trevelyan himself, who reveals to Bond ten years later that he's actually a Russian sympathizer looking vengeance against the British government for their role in the deaths of his parents.

Jim Phelps
In "Mission Impossible," Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is left reeling after his entire IMF unit is wiped out during one mission gone horribly awry. Scrambling to uncover the identity of the person who sold him out, Hunt is shocked to discover that the traitor is Jim Phelps (Jon Voight), the presumed dead director of IMF. It is a shocking betrayal not just for Hunt, but also for longtime "Mission Impossible" fans who were used to the character's famous portrayal by Peter Graves on television throughout the '60s, '70s and '80s.

Oliver Lang
The most vicious villains aren't always high tech spies — sometimes, they're the neighbors next door. Oliver Lang (Tim Robbins) in "Arlington Road" is one such example of this, setting up innocent people to take the fall for terrible acts of domestic terrorism. The ending of "Arlington Road" is as depressing as it is chilling, as (**SPOILER ALERT**) Lang walks away scot free after successfully fooling Michael Faraday (Jeff Bridges) into killing himself and almost 200 other government officials with a hidden bomb.

Richard & Elizabeth Grant
"Little Nikita" presents another example that reflects the currently ongoing spy scandal: Richard (Richard Jenkins) and Elizabeth Grant (Caroline Kava) are two seemingly innocent domestic parents raising their young son Jeff (River Phoenix) in the suburbs. When Jeff decides to apply for the Air Force, an FBI agent (Sidney Poitier) begins to suspect that Jeff's parents are terrorists — and when Sidney Poitier accuses you of something, you can be sure that he's on the right path.

Robert Hanssen
In "Breach," young FBI employee Eric O'Neill (Ryan Phillippe) is tasked with investigating his boss, senior agent Robert Hanssen (Chris Cooper), who is suspected of being a sexual deviant. Soon, it's clear that the seemingly upstanding Hanssen is actually a deadly spy for the Russians, offering trade secrets and confidential government knowledge to his foreign superiors. The scariest part? "Breach" is based on the real life story of Hanssen's treachery.

As fans lined up outside Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California, on the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, his family gathered inside to pay their respects to the fallen pop star.

Janet Jackson, as well as Randy, Tito and Jermaine, arrived at the cemetery around 11 a.m. PT on Friday (June 25), according to Us Weekly. Janet wore a black trench coat and black skirt as she was escorted in by her brothers. The family entered the cemetery through a back entrance and made their way to the Great Mausoleum, where Michael was laid to rest.

The mausoleum's architectural design was inspired by the Campo Santo in Italy, an elaborate cemetery constructed in the 13th century and used as a burial ground for Italian elites for hundreds of years. The building was not open to fans on the anniversary of Jackson's death.

Michael's children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, did not accompany the other Jackson family members. According to Us, the children were last seen in Hawaii on Thursday with Michael's mother, Katherine, who is their legal guardian.

"Sorry Big Bro, for not getting ur children there on the anniversary of ur last day. I tried," Randy wrote on his Twitter account.

Katherine was on hand Friday in Gary, Indiana, Michael's hometown, to unveil a marble memorial and hold what was described as a cell phone vigil outside his childhood home. "I am not in support of the Gary event/trip or whatever it is. I'm tired but I promise to continue this discussion first thing in the morn," Randy tweeted.

MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don't miss the one-hour special "Michael Jackson's Influence on Music," airing tonight at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.

Dhingra named her patisserie which she founded in March this year, after a district in Paris where the 23 year-old lived and learned the art of creating French bakery before she brought her talents back to feed her home city.

"Belgian Chocolate Cupcakes and Rose Macaroons [have been] flying off the shelves ever since we opened," she says.
