Beyonce Skypes With Winner Of Remix Contest

'You did a fantastic job,' singer tells Polish producer Jimek.

As if the honor of being on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/news.jhtml">Beyoncé</a>'s 4: The Remix EP wasn't enough, Polish producer Radzimir Debski (a.k.a. Jimek), got a surprise Skype call from Bey herself this week to announce he'd <a href="http://www.beyonceonline.com/us/news/end-time-remix-winner-revealed-beyoncé-skype" target="_blank">won the competition</a> to remix her song, "End of Time." The Los Angeles-based, Warsaw, Poland-bred producer's version was selected from nearly 3,000 entries in the four-week competition. According to a press release announcing the selection, Jimek's song was selected after initial voting by fans, DJs and remixers on the SoundCloud community, with an international panel of judges, including Beyoncé, Afrojack, Isabella Summers of Florence and the Machine, Polish DJ duo Wawa, New York DJ Jus Ske and Oscar-winning producer Giorgio Moroder selecting the winner. The producer looked stunned when Beyoncé stepped in front of her laptop, exclaiming, "This is not happening!" The "Party" singer assured him that it was. "This is definitely happening ... Thank you for staying awake, I wanted to congratulate you because you're the winner of the 'End of Time' remix competition," she said to Jimek's disbelief, as he took a seat on the floor to settle himself. "Yes you are. You did a fantastic job." <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/19/beyonce-back-to-school-new-york/">Read: Beyonce Heads Back To School In New York City</a> Jimek thanked Beyoncé and said, "That's so cool. I'm so grateful that you found the time, because I'm sure I'm not the only one that ... put their own time into doing it the best they could." Jimek, son of classical and film composer Krzesimir Debski, won a $4,000 prize in addition to appearing on the EP, which also includes: "Run the World (Girls)" (Dave Aude Club Remix), "Countdown" (Isa Machine Remix), "Best Thing I Never Had" (Lars B Remix), "Love on Top" (DJ Escape & Tony Coluccio Remix) and "End of Time" (Wawa Extended). <a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a>

Ke$ha Out For Vengeance In Musical March Madness

Coldplay, Led Zeppelin Album Covers Featured On New British Stamps

On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years. The albums featured in the new series are the <a href="/music/artist/rolling_stones/artist.jhtml">Rolling Stones</a>' Let It Bleed, <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s IV, <a href="/music/artist/bowie_david/artist.jhtml">David Bowie</a>'s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, <a href="/music/artist/mike_oldfield/artist.jhtml">Mike Oldfield</a>'s Tubular Bells, <a href="/music/artist/clash/artist.jhtml">The Clash</a>'s London Calling, <a href="/music/artist/new_order/artist.jhtml">New Order</a>'s Power, Corruption and Lies, <a href="/music/artist/primal_scream/artist.jhtml">Primal Scream</a>'s Screamadelica, <a href="/music/artist/pink_floyd/artist.jhtml">Pink Floyd</a>'s The Division Bell, <a href="/music/artist/blur/artist.jhtml">Blur</a>'s Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — <a href="/music/artist/coldplay/artist.jhtml">Coldplay</a>'s A Rush of Blood to the Head. Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery. "Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time." Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date." "We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Tom Cruise Will Likely Film 'Top Gun 2' Before 'Mission: Impossible 5'

Paramount president confirms that 'all parties are moving ahead' to create a 'Top Gun' sequel.

Good news "Top Gun" fans, Tom Cruise is about to sign a deal to star in the film's sequel.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount president Adam Goodman said, "We'll likely make a 'Top Gun' sequel with Tom Cruise [before the next "Mission: Impossible"]. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with Cruise during his press tour for "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and asked him about "Top Gun 2," Cruise said, "We're working on it."

Christopher McQuarrie was originally hired to pen the sequel's script, but Cruise informed us that the writer was no longer attached to the project. That left Bruckheimer and Scott as the ones working with Cruise to get a sequel under way. "I said to Tony I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven't made a film since 'Days of Thunder,' " Cruise said. "Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas of where it is now. I thought, 'Wow that would be ... what we could do now.'

"If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot 'Top Gun.' "

With confirmation from Goodman, it seems they found the right story line, but does it include Maverick's rival Lt. Tom "Iceman" Kazanski? The actor behind Ice, Val Kilmer, said he'd be on board for "Top Gun 2."

"Sure, it would be fun," he told MTV News. "I'd have to get a haircut, but anything for the role."

A big reason behind his enthusiasm for the project has to do with Bruckheimer. "It's not like Jerry Bruckheimer isn't the most successful producer on Earth," he said with a laugh. "I was going around bragging. I did a little part just to hang out with [director Tony Scott] and Denzel Washington, on this movie 'Deja Vu.' I'm going around saying, 'Jerry's probably made $5 billion,' I was guessing. And one interviewer said, 'You haven't read the [press notes]?' He just turned the page and there's Jerry's bio: $50 billion, he's grossed. As soon as I read that, wow. He's got thirty or forty or fifty awesome secrets about how to make a big blockbuster."

She recently re-launched her website, began tweeting, <a href="/news/articles/1682565/beyonce-tumblr-personal-pics.jhtml">started a personal Tumblr</a> account and even <a href="/news/articles/1683546/beyonce-skypes-remix-contest.jhtml">Skyped with a contest winner</a> this week after her "End of Time" remix competition. Somewhere in there, Blue Ivy's mama found the time to handwrite letters to several famous people and post them on her site. She <a href="http://www.beyonce.com/news/michelle-obama" target="_blank">shared</a> her warm, fuzzy feelings for some key figures, including First Lady Michelle Obama, the late New York artist <a href="http://www.beyonce.com/news/basquiat" target="_blank">Jean-Michel Basquiat</a> and <a href="http://www.beyonce.com/news/sade" target="_blank">R&B star Sade </a>. On Thursday (March 1), the Biebs turned 18 years old, and his most famous friends hooked up with MTV News to celebrate <a href="/news/articles/1680191/justin-bieber-birthday-fan-questions.jhtml">Bieber's birthday</a>. "I hope that you are around all of your loved ones and having a good time. The stars of Wilson Phillips are used to growing up with famous parents: Carnie and Wendy Wilson's dad is Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson while Chyna Phillips is the daughter of The Mamas & the Papas stars Michelle Phillips and John Phillips. Now parents themselves, sisters Carnie and Wendy recently talked to Parade readers on Facebook about music and motherhood.

On their own kids' musical inclinations:
Carnie: "My daughter Lola, 7, is a wonderful singer and has a natural ability to sing harmony! Luci, almost 3, is starting to sing more on key!! LOL. I think Lola might be more inclined than Luci. They both love to dance and sing so we will see. It's not something I will enforce... just encourage if they want. It's up to them!"

Usher Says The World 'Deserves' An Usher/Adele Collaboration

'Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years,' singer says of Adele catching up with his chart record.

He really loves <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, even if she's threatening his position as an album-sales record holder. "If I have to confess, I have to confess that I have told a few people not to go and buy Adele's album because I don't want her to go and break my record," he joked to <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43207/" target="_blank">Capital FM</a> in the U.K. The 21 singer's record-setting album has come close to beating the record held by his own album Confessions for <a href="/news/articles/1676522/adele-usher-best-sales-record.jhtml">most albums sold in one year</a>. "No, actually, I love her. Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years. So now, guys, don't go and buy that album right now." But if he can't beat her, he'll join her. He hinted in the same interview that he would love the chance to collaborate with the broken-hearted songstress. "I think the world deserves an <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43230/" target="_blank">Usher and Adele record</a>," he said. "That's what I think." Well, Usher will get his chance to prove his chart dominance once again when he drops his new album later this year. He's currently out promoting its lead single, the sexy, sultry, Diplo-produced <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/16/usher-diplo-climax-love-affair-song/">"Climax."</a> The singer released a video for the track earlier this month. The sexy clip follows two lovers engaged in a hot, steamy love affair. Usher wrestles with the ramifications of their relationship, pondering it all in his car, with a gun not far away. Leading to the video's climax, Usher watches his lady with her other man, then runs in the house, fires off his gun and runs away. Viewers are left wondering if it was nothing more than a daydream as the video ends with the singer once again sitting in his car, still reflecting, as he pulls away from the supposed crime scene.

Wondering what the highly anticipated <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> track featuring <a href="/news/articles/1683050/justin-bieber-taylor-swift-collaboration.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> might sound like? Well, Bieber's girlfriend, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a>, has heard it and she gives it two thumbs up. "It's beautiful," she told <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/marc_malkin/selena_gomez_boyfriend_justin_bieber/310269#ixzz1saEUoQmT" target="_blank">E! News</a> about the collaboration for Bieber's June release, Believe. "I don't know if it's going to make it on the record, but it is beautiful." Whether or not it makes the cut, Swift is only one of many artists — including Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and Bieber's pals Kanye West and Drake — who have hit the studio with the Biebs. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene. "It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. Now, a few more rappers want to get dirty with the glittery pop singer. <a href="http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2011/10/t-i-andre-300-lil-wayne-wiz-khalifa-record-kesha-remix" target="_blank">XXLmag.com</a> reports that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/t_i_/artist.jhtml">T.I.</a> plans to jump on the track, and Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa will also be joining Andre and Tip on a new version of "Sleazy." Weezy should be a welcome addition to <a href="/news/articles/1651081/keha-gets-sleazy-on-new-cannibal-track.jhtml">Ke$ha's dance tune</a>, as it sounds somewhat like Wayne's single "A Milli." And while not much else is known about the remix, T.I. promised that he's going to go big with his verse. "I haven't heard anybody but mine. ... I'm gonna put my money on mine," the newly freed rapper, who <a href="/news/articles/1671950/ti_prison-release.jhtml">ended an 11-month prison sentence</a> in September, told the website. The Andre 3000 remix dropped earlier this year and appears on K-Dollar Sign's album Cannibal. The guys will have a lot of swagger to compete with because when Andre appeared on the first remix, he had this to say: "We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn't forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he'll remember/ If not, he's human, I'm human, you human, we'll forgive him/ I call her Keisha, she like it because it's 'hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I'm good to her." Tip told XXLmag.com that his appearance on the Ke$ha song is just one of many remixes he's amped about. He has also worked on remixes for Meek Mill and Rick Ross's "Ima Boss," as well as Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne song "N---as in Paris." "I'm looking for some more records to jump on," he said. "That's what I'm doin' right now. I'm commandeering hit records right now. I'm hijacking hit records. If you got a hit, I'm on it." 'Glee' Michael Jackson Episode: Rumored Set List Leaks

A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Cast Members Talk Michael Jackson Episode" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div> The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie). This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. Back in 2010, the <a href="/news/articles/1657395/glee-thriller.jhtml">New Directions performed his track "Thriller,"</a> complete with zombie garb, during an episode that aired after the Super Bowl. The show has also previously covered "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror." Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song." While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. "That's a scary, scary episode to do," she said.
