Our YBF celebs were celebrating huge events on both coasts this weekend. On the west coast, director Phylicia Rashad celebrated the opening night performance of "A Raisin In The Sun" while Eddie Murphy received the "Career Icon" Award at The First Annual Comedy Awards. See the fab pics inside...
Lorraine Hansberry's iconic play "A Raisin In The Sun" has been brought back to life by director and actress Phylicia Rashad at The Ebony Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles.
Phylicia Rashad posed with Ebony Repertory founder Wren T. Brown during opening night.
Phylicia's tv son Malcolm Jamal Warner came through.
Margaret "Shug" Avery of The Color Purple was there.
Phylicia's sister, Debbie Allen brought out her gorgeous son Norman Nixon Jr.
And Denzel's wife, Pauletta Washington was there. Love the handbag!
Superb actors Glynn Turman and Don Cheadle were there.
"Amen" actress Anna Maria Horsford posed.
Debbie caught up with Eric LaSalle.
The yummy Blair Underwood was there.
And Taye Hansberry, Mamie Hansberry and Nantille Hansberry came out to keep the family legacy alive.
Blair Underwood caught up with friends Keisha Nash and Bridgid Coulter.
Then Forest Whitaker and wife Keisha posed with Don Cheadle and wife Brigid.
Actress Vanessa Bell Calloway was there to offer support too.
And on the east coast,
Some seriously funny people got together to toast The First Annual Comedy Awards at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC last night. Among them was "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan.
Craig Robinson was a presenter at the show.
And The Roots keep the crowd bouncing when they hit the stage.
But one of the biggest moments of the evening was when Eddie Murphy stepped to the stage.
Mr. Murphy was presented the first "Career Icon" award. He's kept us laughing since the early 80s on "SNL" and over 20 years with his movies. The award was long overdue.
