Taylor Kitsch is making a major leap from small-screen sports hero Tim Riggins in "Friday Night Lights," to potential blockbuster action-movie star via three big-budget films: Disney's sci-fi fantasy "John Carter," "Battleship" and crime thriller "Savages." And just before he officially catapults to superstar status, he's answering your questions.
On Thursday, March 1, Kitsch will sit down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz to present a clip from his upcoming action adventure during "MTV First: John Carter." At 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV, Kitsch will introduce the clip, followed by a 30-minute interview that will continue on MTV.com, where Kitsch will answer more of your questions.
To get your question answered, all you have to do is send it via Twitter, using @MTVNews and the hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskKitsch.
"MTV First" will give you a chance to see a never-before-seen clip from "John Carter," eight days before it hits theaters on March 9.
Set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars), "John Carter" is the story of a war-weary former military captain (Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars, where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions among the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
"There's kind of that stigma with big movies that it's just action," Kitsch told MTV News."But with this, it's really just the core of this guy and his journey of reinventing himself and finding himself again."
"John Carter" is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel "John Carter of Mars." The film will be released on March 9 in digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D.
Catch Taylor Kitsch Thursday, March 1, on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET, when he'll debut an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from "John Carter." Then head over to MTV.com for our 30-minute chat with Kitsch.

Since welcoming her son Ethan in 2010, Dannii Minogue says she's traded in her couture and stilettos for the standard mom uniform.
"My wardrobe has gone through massive changes since I became a mum," the former X-Factor judge tells Glamour UK. "I used to think, 'Why do they all look the same?' The school run uniform was sneakers, T-shirts and scraped-back hair. And then I became a mum and got it."

Co-stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis make a hilariously musical entrance, while Sandra Bullock shows off some impressive German.

Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow present at the 84th annual Academy Awards
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
There are typically two kinds of presenters at the Oscars: the earnest and the hilarious. But every year, a handful of actors manage to capture the goal of either category in a way that makes the moment unforgettable.
On Sunday night, the Kodak Theatre saw plenty of earnest presenters. Natalie Portman, Colin Firth and Morgan Freeman reminded viewers why we love the Oscars.
But it was the presenters with the funny bits who really stole the show. Whether comparing short films to male genitalia or tossing cymbals onstage when they should have been reading out the name of an award winner, we couldn't stop chuckling. Here, the MTV Movies team handpicks the five most memorable presenters of the 2012 Oscars.
Robert Downey Jr., Documentarian
Trying to stay ahead of the curve, Robert Downey Jr. and a camera crew joined Gwyneth Paltrow onstage to present the Best Documentary award in an attempt to popularize his new art form, "live documentary." Of course, as Paltrow pointed out, that's called the news, but we couldn't get enough of their Tony Stark/ Pepper Potts-style banter several months before "The Avengers" hits theaters. And we like that Downey joked that he turned down the role in "The Descendants" with George Clooney looking on from the crowd.
Emma Stone Is Super Good
Yes, Emma Stone is charming, but we were still surprised at how well she pulled off the task of co-presenting Best Visual Effects alongside Ben Stiller. First-time Oscar presenter Stone acted out her skit flawlessly and even managed to poke fun at Stiller's previous presenting stunts in the process. But it was her asking "Superbad" co-star Jonah Hill to come onstage and dance with her — and his subsequent refusal — that made this one of the funniest moments of the night.
Sandra Bullock Is "Extremely" Bilingual
Did you know Sandra Bullock was bilingual? It certainly made her presenting the Oscar for Best Foreign Film all the more fitting. And although the actress said she was going to present the award in Mandarin, Bullock actually announced the award in German. For those who wondered about the Academy's motivation for having the "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" star present in a different language, it turns out it was because the Academy Awards "are an international show and because there are over 1.2 billion people in China." So why not?
Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis Make Music
Leave it to the stars of the upcoming political comedy "The Campaign," Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, to make one of the funniest and most dramatic appearances of the night. Dressed in all-white tuxedos, the duo emerged from the orchestra pit smashing cymbals together. Because how else do you expect comedians to present the award for Best Original Song? Fortunately, winner Bret McKenzie also had a good sense of humor in his acceptance speech for "The Muppets" song "Man or Muppet."
"Bridesmaids" Stars Toast Scorsese Again
Who else but the cast of "Bridesmaids" could make presenting the three short-film categories one of the most hilarious of the night? Sure, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph's whole opening spiel was one big penis joke, but can you expect any less when Melissa McCarthy earned her Oscar nomination for a part that featured her comically defecating in a sink? We're still trying to figure out what the rules of Rose Byrne and McCarthy's Martin Scorsese drinking game are, but we'll let you know when we do.
The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Keep it locked at MTV.com all night and beyond for updates on the night's big winners and the best red-carpet fashion. Join the live conversation by tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #Oscars.

'It's perfect for this private couple,' one celebrity expert tells MTV News of B's low-key NYC outing.

Beyonce leaves 40/40 Club in New York City

It was only a month ago that fans were wondering when the first images of new mom Beyoncé might hit the Net. On Monday night, those questions were answered. Just four weeks after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy, B was back on the scene to celebrate hubby Jay-Z's first show at Carnegie Hall.

Wearing a form-fitting red dress, she hit up a post-show party held at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City. And while Beyoncé could have premiered her post-baby body on a splashy red carpet, celebrity experts note that the more understated move is very B. "It's perfect for this private couple. She didn't make a big deal walking a red carpet at an award show or posing on the cover of a magazine," Huffington Post celebrity columnist Rob Shuter told MTV News on Tuesday (February 7). "Beyoncé made it as low-key an event as possible and at the same time plugged her husband's club." Check out more photos from B's night out! For the appearance, Beyoncé was decked out in a fiery-red Temperley London dress, Christian Louboutin heels and an Alexander McQueen clutch. While that may sound very glam, another expert was surprised by just how modest the look actually was. "Beyoncé looks amazing in her first post-baby appearance. Even thought it made sense for her to make her debut last night to show her support for her husband and the charity his concert benefited, her outfit was fairly simple," celebrity editor David Caplan said. "I expected her to make her post-baby debut at a really glitzy event or awards show, like maybe the Grammys, in a gorgeous gown and really steal the show. But clearly she wanted to be seen, since she even posted photos of herself right away on her website, which stars don't typically do — they'll just let the media pick up and run the photos."

So, will B and Jay play it just as cool when it comes to releasing the first shot of their newborn? "It will be a [paparazzi] shot taken on the beach or when the couple is on vacation," Shuter predicted. "They won't reveal the baby to get a [magazine] cover like Bethenny [Frankel] or those other reality stars." Caplan also proposed that a baby photo will probably leak. "As for when will we see baby Blue, I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of grainy-looking paparazzi photo emerges," he said. "Those photographers are very crafty, even if Beyoncé and Jay-Z think they're doing all they can to keep Blue away from photographers. But ultimately, I think you can expect to see her baby photos in a magazine pictorial, and that will be Blue's introduction to the world. That's the real reveal people want to see." Are you looking forward to the first photos of Blue Ivy? Tell us on our Facebook page!

The red carpet at Vanity Fair's Oscars party was full of hot couples and great gowns, and the fun continued inside. Cameron Diaz, in orange Victoria Beckham, shared laughs and champagne with pal Kate Hudson, wearing red Versace. Kate arrived on the arm of fiancé Matt Bellamy, while Cameron's rumored guy, Diddy, also went to the bash. Gwyneth Paltrow said hello to Jane Fonda, while nearby, a girlie crew of Paula Patton, Amy Adams, Claire Danes, and Jennifer Westfeldt caught up. Kate Bosworth, who made the rounds in Prabal Gurung, couldn't keep her hands off her boyfriend Michael Polish.
Tom Cruise and an Elie Saab-clad Katie Holmes made the rounds as well. They spent a good chunk of time with their longtime friends Victoria Beckham, in her own design, and David Beckham. Tom and Katie also said hello to a Monique Lhuillier-clad Lily Collins and George Lucas. Love was in the air! Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde watched the Oscars show from the Sunset Tower Hotel, in the company of Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Claire Danes, and Tom Ford. Sofia Coppola also checked out the telecast with Jason, Olivia, and company, and later welcomed her husband Thomas Mars to the fun. Miley Cyrus found a seat to spend quality time with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

The lady of the night, Adele, sparkled from head to toe on the red carpet in a black Armani gown, showing off a lighter hair color in her first performance since having vocal-cord surgery. MTV Style picks their best-dressed at the Grammys. Fellow British artist Jessie J shined on her first Grammy red carpet, turning heads in a gray Julien Macdonald gown. "I just wanted to wear something that I don't usually wear, which is silver, something long and very heavy," Jessie told MTV News. "I feel like a disco ball at the event." Katy Perry was feeling blue at the Grammys, matching her blue hairstyle to a light-blue, long-sleeved Elie Saab gown. "One of my absolute favorites of the night was Katy Perry," Celebuzz producer Rachel Maresca told MTV News. "She paired her bold, blue hair with a very light-blue Elie Saab lace gown. She looked stunning, and it's a more subdued look for her. We don't always see that out of her, but it is very glamorous." Another statement dress belonged to Fergie, who called her Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown her "safe choice," which it was far from. The vibrant orange lace gown allowed her black bra and panties to see through, but according to Fergie, when Gaultier gives you a custom look, you have to wear it. "When Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown comes and it's shipped to you and it fits, you wear it," Fergie told our own Sway Calloway. Yet, out of all these amazing artists, it seems the fashion night belonged to Rihanna. Jaws dropped as she worked the carpet in a one-of-a-kind Armani dress that she helped design. Justin Bieber arrives at the 2011 VMAs

As Justin Bieber gears up for his 18th birthday this week, we at MTV News decided we'd help our guy celebrate the milestone by looking back on 18 of his greatest moments so far. Whether he's dazzling us with killer performances, topping the box office and the Billboard charts or just dropping yet another memorable music video, the Biebs has kept us talking since he first rose to super fame way back in 2009. Of course, actually narrowing down all of those moments was no easy task. Our list had to include career successes as well as personal achievements, and the pop star has had no shortage of either. But we put our heads together for the Beliebers. We'll celebrate every day leading up to the final reveal on Justin's big day, Thursday, March 1. What will be the #1 moment? You'll have to keep it locked at MTVNews.com!

18. The 2012 Oscars
No, "Never Say Never" wasn't nominated for an Oscar, but Justin still managed to snag a few headlines at this year's show. Bieber popped up in the show's opener with host Billy Crystal in a sketch that paid homage to Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris." Dressed up in formal wear, Bieber shared what seemed to be longing glances with Crystal. The singer also showed his flair for comedy, giving more proof that he's a true triple threat.

17. Selena has always been the mature one in this relationship — she turns 20 in July — so it might take some pressure off having Justin join in her adulthood.

16. MTV News was on hand at Lucky Strike in New York City as the Biebs tried to beat Cannon. Tons of adoring fans also showed up to cheer on the floppy-haired star. In the end, despite Nick's big pre-game talk, it was Bieber who won. And Beliebers can probably take credit for helping him to victory!

15. No, not Selena, who was MTV's red-carpet co-host, but his pet snake, Johnson. (The metaphor was not lost on anyone.) Justin actually seemed to creep out his lady when he unveiled the creepy crawler, and we couldn't stop talking about it.

14. The iconic department store was filled mostly with female fans hoping to get spritzed by the star, and we found out he cares a lot about how they smell. "I just think that what we decided to do — making the fragrance for females, not getting a cologne for males — I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm more concerned about how girls smell 'cause I'm a guy," Justin explained to MTV News. "And I know what smells good and I know what I like, so girls should know if [I like] it, then other guys are going to like it." Share your birthday wishes for Justin and weigh in on the top 18 moments on our Facebook page! Stick with MTV News all week as we count down Justin Bieber's 18 greatest moments leading up to his 18th birthday. Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off <MTVNLINK type="url" id="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK>'s 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.

The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon. For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997. Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction. Get your "Idol" fix on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

MTV News' own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering "The X Factor" rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report! LOS ANGELES — "The X Factor" top seven are back on the lot after their first (and only) mini-vacation of the season. And as the Thanksgiving tryptophan wears off, the anxiety of another double elimination is setting in.

Adding to the stress? "The X Factor" is tackling the songs of Michael Jackson on Wednesday night (November 30), on the 29th anniversary of Thriller's release, no less. One of the contestants is so stressed over the theme he's emerged as a total perfectionist. During Monday's rehearsals, he had already nixed multiple arrangements the show had provided him. "This is the most unprepared I've felt on a Monday," he said to his mentor as they rushed out of Stage 36. There was a camera crew chasing them to capture the drama — as well as the ensuing late-night emergency meeting with the vocal coaches — so don't be surprised if some of this intense footage ends up in your living room. (This afternoon's dress rehearsal went swimmingly, for the record.) Meanwhile, one contestant had a full-on battle with his/her mentor over a chair. The mentor said, "Sit and sing." The contestant said, "Again?! How about I do something on my feet for Michael Jackson week?" Another mentor came to the defense of the contestant. In the end, the contestant is sitting after all. Don't worry, contestant. The eerie arrangement of an MJ classic is what folks are going to be buzzing about. No one will care if you sit or stand. In the control room, I spied one of the bigwigs utter the word "brilliant!" after the contestant's dress rehearsal. Another hot topic: wardrobe! When paying homage to one of the biggest music icons ever, it's tempting for the stylists to include clothing nods to Michael's various looks. But several singers are worried they'll look too much like Jackson impersonators, which has caused many a headache in the wardrobe trailer. But stylist June Ambrose is still able to keep things light in the midst of the drama. While waiting around for a contestant's last-minute fitting, she started an impromptu MJ dance party on the lot. Crotch grabs and "woo" included! Lastly, Paula Abdul's sunny energy has been noticeably absent on the CBS lot now that all her groups have been eliminated. She went from being the most hands-on mentor to an on-set ghost. "The X Factor" family can't wait to welcome her back for her first live show as strictly a judge. What do you think she's been doing with her newfound free time? You can catch Jim on the "X Factor Pepsi Pre-Show," streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com!

We forecast the year that will be for your favorite stars, in Bigger Than the Sound.

Welcome to 2012, the year that will either bring us the end of civilization as we know it or perhaps flying cars (finally!) Of course, between those two events, there's also going to be a presidential election, the London Olympics and that last "Twilight" movie (finally x 100!), not to mention a whole lot of activity within the lives of your favorite stars, too: Babies, weddings, honorary doctorates in nanotechnology; this is the year it'll all happen.

Which is why, with the new year upon us, I've decided to get my Kreskin on with these predictions for 2012. Don't ask me to gaze deep into my crystal ball and try to foresee who'll win the White House or the World Series, because, seriously, if I knew that, don't you think I'd be wagering right now? Instead, I'm tackling the important topics. Here's my 2012 forecast for the Beyoncés and Britneys of the world ... partly cloudy, with a zero-percent chance of accuracy. » Beyoncé and Jay-Z will welcome a daughter, who, upon her, uh, release, will also release her debut single, "Run the World (Me)." » Adele will win every single Grammy, including a stunning upset of Eres Un Farsante in the Best Regional Mexican Or Tejano Album category. » Britney Spears and Jason Trawick will tie the knot in an elaborate, multi-denominational ceremony held — eh, I don't even care enough to finish this one. » Katy Perry, having finally run out of singles to release off Teenage Dream, will spend the entirety of 2012 shooting videos for objects around her house. Her hits will include "Toaster," "KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer" and "This Towel Set Someone Gave Russell and I for Our Wedding That We Keep in the Guest Bathroom." » Dr. Dre will indefinitely scrap Detox and instead drop a more age-appropriate album called The Chronic Arthritis. » Lady Gaga will wear a crazy hat or something. » Rihanna will release six albums in 2012, each more raunchy than the last. Titles include Speculum, [Censored] [Censored] On My [Censored], and Songs About F---ing, which, oddly, will be a note-for-note remake of Big Black's Songs About F---ing. » Dave Grohl is sure to do something awesome. » Drake's sweater game will become so advanced that he will surpass Bill Cosby as the world's foremost expert on multi-hued knitwear. On a related note, he will also release a comedy album called To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With. » Nicki Minaj will stun the fashionistas when she appears at the annual Met Ball wearing a nice pantsuit she bought at Bealls. » Justin Bieber will finally get that bike without the training wheels, since he's a big boy now. » The Black Keys, buoyed by the success of their "Lonely Boy" video, will shoot another dance-only clip for "Gold on the Ceiling," this one set at Gallagher's 2000 and featuring nothing but topless women. Surprisingly, it will become the most-viewed music video in the history of everything. » Lil Wayne will come full circle, get a tattoo of his face on his face. » Guns N' Roses will reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April, only with that dude who plays a guitar shaped like a foot filling in for Slash and Tommy Stinson replacing Duff on bass. So, actually, it won't be Guns N' Roses at all. » Coldplay's Chris Martin is just going to be fingerpainting everything. » Rick Ross will be named the Memphis Restaurant Association's Restaurateur of the Year for his tremendous achievements in Wingstop-ery. » Kanye West will literally explode. » Fans of Skrillex will stop and realize that, in 1997, EDM was poised take over America too, and we ended up with Limp Bizkit as a result.

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears makes headlines at concerts, even when she's not performing. That's probably why Los Angeles radio station KIIS FM tapped the pop princess to guest-host their annual Wango Tango music festival along with Ryan Seacrest on Saturday night at the Staples Center.

The bill was a balance of pop and hip-hop, with acts like Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Selena Gomez, "Glee" 's Matthew Morrison, Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, Jason Derülo, Far East Movement, New Boyz, Cobra Starship and newcomer Cody Simpson. Backstage, the media room went into a frenzy when Spears arrived in a red, geometric-print dress and a beaming smile. Owning her "femme fatale" moniker, Spears worked the carpet for a few moments while all of the cameras in the room were pointing at her. It was the second red carpet appearance by Brit this week, after her Beverly Hills benefit on Wednesday night for the St. Bernard Project. Check out photos from Wango Tango 2011. Spears' Femme Fatale collaborator Ke$ha, who was returning to the festival for the second time, said that an onstage collab between to the two would have to require one thing. "That would have to include me finding her and attacking her," Ke$ha told MTV News, with the best intentions. "I'm planning on pouncing her." While that never happened, at least not onstage, Ke$ha delivered on her promise of a set heavy on her glitter gun. And she assured us she knew the dos and don'ts of handling that kind of firepower. "Do not spray yourself in the face with it," she said. "Do spray everybody else with it. That's pretty much it." While Joe Jonas wasn't performing at the show, he took a break from recording his solo debut to catch up with almost everyone backstage. "I didn't see Britney backstage, just said 'hello' to a couple of my friends," Jonas said. "Backstage is always [full of] people, especially having it at the Staples Center this time, I think compared to all the way out in the desert, it changes everything." Also happy to have Wango Tango in Los Angeles were locals Far East Movement. "Man, we grew up literally a few blocks away from here, and you can only imagine basketball games being played here," Kev Nish said. "So to come in here as performers, to be able to do our songs in this arena is a little crazy. We used to pass out CDs a few blocks [away], so we're very thankful. And the lineup is nuts, so we're extremely excited to be a part of this lineup." Were you at Wango Tango? Share your experience in the comments below!

Justin Bieber might be singing hooks like a G6 in the very near future. Super-producer RedOne told MTV News that he recently hit the studio with the teen star, and it involved dance-floor phenoms Far East Movement.

"The Bieber thing, I don't know if I'm allowed to mention it right now, but ... I did a few songs with Far East Movement, and one of the songs ... to me, it's a smash," he told us in his Los Angeles-area recording studio. "And Justin sang the chorus. It's a really good song, and I think people are gonna dance like crazy to it." While any other details about the project are top-secret, Red did praise the 17-year-old's work ethic, maturity and musicality. "He's very positive and he's an amazing singer," he said. "Amazing everything! He's Justin Bieber. He's a sensation. I think he's becoming a man with his voice. He's an incredible singer. So it's not just the dance or the looks or the 'Justin' factor. He's a real singer musician ... He's a real artist." Currently, Bieber is busy recording his 2012 release, Believe, and there's a chance RedOne could be involved in the album. But it will only happen if the twosome can cook up a choice track. "We're trying to figure out some smashes together for his album," he said. With RedOne's part on the album still up in the air, there are plenty of other folks onboard with Bieber for the release, including producers Pharrell, Timbaland and will.i.am and rappers Drake and Lil Wayne. Believe will be released later this year. What are you hoping to hear from Justin's new music? Taking a break from the studio to spend time with his gal, Justin Bieber treated Selena Gomez to a romantic afternoon in Los Angeles on Saturday (February 25).
The "Never Say Never" hitmaker and his "Who Says" singing girlfriend were joined by a group of friends as they made their way over to Sushi Dan a some tasty Japanese lunch.
Once filled up, the young couple continued along with their Oscar weekend date by heading to the Sherman Oaks galleria for a matinee movie.
The outing comes as Miss Gomez spent the previous night at the 5th Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party at Cecconi's.
While there, the 19-year-old chatted with E! News about her new tattoo - explaining that it isn't a little heart as widely reported.
"It's a music note," she said. "Everybody thought it was a heart, but it's a little music note."
Further explaining the meaning behind the ink job, Selena dished, "I was named after a singer and music obviously is a big influence for me. And there's music stuff with my mom that means a lot to me, too."

Independent Spirit Award-winner tells MTV News ending awards season with her co-stars is 'so bittersweet.'

"The Descendants" took home a handful of awards from the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon, but none of the winners were more enthused about the honor than first-time nominee Shailene Woodley. The "Secret Life of the American Teenager" star has been rewarded repeatedly for her emotional turn as the teenage daughter of George Clooney's character in the Alexander Payne-directed flick, and the 20-year-old continued that trend Saturday, winning Best Supporting Actress.
Sunday night's Academy Awards marks the last major awards show of the season for Woodley and her "Descendants" castmates. On the red carpet before the Spirit Awards, the young actress told MTV News that ending her time with her co-stars is "so bittersweet."
"Tomorrow's the grand finale. It's awesome, because I'll be able to have clean socks and do laundry for the first time in a few months, but it is sad because every single night has been this beautiful little reunion of people, and tomorrow's the last reunion," she explained.
At least the reunions will go out with a bang, since the entire cast, including Clooney, is expected to attend the Oscars. Even though they won't continue to see each other on the awards circuit this year, Woodley expects she and her castmates will stay in touch.
If Clooney falls out of contact, Woodley promised, "I will track him down and say, 'Keep teaching me, because I haven't learned enough yet!' "
The actress has made quite a splash on the red carpet while doing rounds for "The Descendants," and she said her Oscar-night dress is ready to go. Picking out the perfect outfit hasn't been something to stress about — as she said, that's what stylists are for.
"I do have a dress. It hasn't been that big of a process because I know nothing about fashion," Woodley said. "I have an awesome stylist who does know a lot about fashion, and so I'm sure she would say it's been a big process, but for me, it's been very simple."
