Kelly Clarkson is doing what she does best on her fifth studio album: delivering powerful pop breakup anthems. Stronger has several feisty songs that will help any girl get over a broken heart, yet Clarkson told MTV News she wasn't channeling her own breakup woes for inspiration.

"A lot of times, if I'm writing it ... a lot of people think that's about a guy; it's not actually about that. It's more about my work environment," Clarkson said. "I write 'metaphorically speaking' a lot. Sometimes it's not always about a guy; I just end up writing it more that way because it's better for mainstream radio. I actually haven't dated in a while, so there's no breakup song for me on there."

With hit songs like "Since U Been Gone," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Walk Away," "Never Again" and, most recently, "Mr. Know It All," Clarkson has become known as a 'Break-Up Anthem Queen', a title she doesn't mind having.

"I love a feisty song. I like to be sassy. That's usually a breakup song," Clarkson said. "It's really in your face."

And even though Clarkson isn't revealing any personal heartbreak on this album, it doesn't mean she hasn't been scorned by a boyfriend in the past.

"I have been through one [breakup] that was real crappy," Clarkson said. "I think that'll last me for a lifetime, so I'm good. That was enough sorrow for one year. So I've been through it enough to where if I have a song, I can sing about it and I know the experience."

But the experience wasn't all bad for Clarkson; it seems this former flame was an inspiration for many of her songs.

"He was just a really loser guy and that kind of whole situation. I was like, 'Oh, I didn't pick very good — oops!' Just the environment, I think, as a whole wasn't a healthy situation," Clarkson recalled. "I don't know what was wrong with me. I was never in love with him. We're completely different. I don't even know why. I think that is how lonely you get sometimes, when you're like, 'Well, you don't look so bad.' That was bad, but I got a lot of songs out of it!"

So could this guy be to blame for Clarkson's single status? "I'm convinced that I scare all men off," Clarkson joked. "I date a lot of musicians as well, and they write about relationships just as much as I do, so I don't think it's abnormal."
