Rocker and 'Gossip Girl' star Taylor Momsen opens up about her musical influences and rock star aspirations with Interview magazine.
Taylor grew up playing piano and guitar, and listening to rock 'n roll (Led Zeppelin & The Beatles) well ahead of her time. She attended her first concert, The White Stripes, before 5th grade and it blew her away:
"It was loud, it was violent, it was my first rock show. It was f**ing awesome."
She says she has always known she wanted to be a musician:
"That was always the plan," she confirms.
When asked if being called "Junior Courtney Love" bothers her, Taylor says she's totally cool with it:
No, because she's awesome. She just isn't one of my idols or direct influences, despite what people think. The public decided that for themselves, but I'm not going to complain, because she is great.
Taylor just wrapped a tour with her band, The Pretty Reckless, and when she was asked if she had to adjust to life on tour, Taylor said:
Not really, it was just awesome. Well, the f**ing port-a-potties?on a movie set, you don't deal with that! Sharing a toilet with 50 bands is pretty nasty. But being onstage feels natural.
Ew. I don't envy anyone having to use port-a-potties, much less sharing them with that many other bands.
What do you think about the Courtney Love comparisons? Do you see any similarities?
