Recently, a post on a forum on Taobao.com -- the biggest e-commerce website in Asia -- caused Chinese netizens to take up metaphorical arms, or at least keyboards, in defence of an unlikely cause: Shanghainese people's right to shop on Taobao.com.
One Chinese Taobao user posted his simple message to the residents of one of China's most powerful cities online: Shanghainese people should stop using Taobao. That was followed by a wave of support for Shanghainese users.
